Your money in dosh is held safely with major registered New Zealand banks on bare trust. This means your funds are kept entirely separate from dosh’s own money. From 1 July 2025, your deposits with dosh are also protected by the government’s Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS) up to $100,000 if a bank fails.
Interest is calculated daily on your full Strive balance and paid into your account on the first day of each month. You earn the same flat rate on every dollar in your account, with no tiers or minimums. You must have an active dosh Everyday account and a valid IRD number to receive interest payments.
Yes, dosh Strives are fully on call savings accounts. You can make unlimited withdrawals at any time with no notice period and no penalties. Funds transfer instantly to your dosh Everyday account, where they’re ready to spend.
The DCS covers you up to $100,000 if a licensed deposit taker fails, when your money is held in DCS-protected accounts. Live from 1 July 2025, the scheme gives depositors confidence that their money is protected, adding to the stability of New Zealand’s financial system. The DCS is a government scheme that is funded by deposit takers and administered by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand – Te Pūtea Matua. See www.dosh.nz/dcs for more information.
Strives are interest-earning savings accounts ideal for saving towards goals like a home deposit, holiday, or new car. Interest earned is paid monthly. Stashes are non-interest-bearing money management pockets, great for setting aside money for regular bills or short-term expenses. Both are free, allow unlimited movements, and are DCS-protected if a bank fails.
You can have up to 20 Strive savings and Stash accounts open at the same time. Each can be named and tracked separately. So you can save for a house deposit, an overseas trip, a new car, and an emergency fund all at once, with a clear view of progress towards each goal.
